    Description

This bronze cast statue originated in the Burma area.  From a private collection which was aquired in the 1950's- exact age unknown.  Statue is approximately 9" tall. An identical statue attributed to the Ramkhamhaeg Museum in Sukhothai was sold in 2012 for 1.
The "Saturday Buddha" is also called the Naga Buddha in Hindu and Buddhist culture because of the great snake deity (multi-headed King cobra Mucalinda) which is said to be sheltering The Buddha from the elements after he attained enlightenment.
The statue is in excellent condition for its age. Pictures are representative of detail and polish.
