Chinese Statue God of Wealth Figurine Carved Wood Vintage Asian Folk Art
This colorful vintage, statue is hand carved and hand painted.
This is the God of Wealth. Look carefully at the photos to see all the detail.
The majority of his clothes are painted in gold, which gives the figurine a very rich look.
The figure is sitting on a throne like chair with animal heads on the arms. The chair is situated on top of a pedestal.
The entire statue measures 10-3/4 inches in height x 6 inches across x 5 inches in depth. It weights more than 2-1/2 pounds unpackaged.
We’ll describe this from top to bottom. He has on a regal looking turban, primarily gilded with some dark red toward the back. There is a pink “jewel” on the front. His face is very pink and he has white, high bushy eyebrows, a mustache and sideburns painted on. There is a hint of blue on his eyes. He has a very long beard and side hairs made of gray fiber which almost feels like real hair!
His robe is mostly gold with a colored sash and collar. His shoes are red with gild.
The platform is orange on top and the base has blue and green with some gilding. His chair is red, blue and black.
There is one significant crack in the base under the chair on the right side. It does not affect the integrity of the piece. Other than that, there are just some minor age-related marks / wear to the paint and surface.
Because these are handmade pieces of folk art, one could expect to find irregularities. Please review the photos carefully.
